I have a SELECT query using several WITH blocks. Sometimes it runs successfully. Very often it fails with the error "Lookup Error - Oracle Database Error: ORA-32696: HTI: No free slot". I Googled the error, but the only advice is to "Increase memory". There are several discussion boards where people metion this error and ask what memory needs to be increased. I am not a DBA and cannot increase any memory allotments. I contacted my DBA and she said my only option was to try to optimize my query. Does anyone know specifically what causes this error?

There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

Are there any other errors in the error stack? Are you using parallel query? – Justin Cave Apr 9 '12 at 4:10
