What type of server you are using i mean to say hosting server.. if its your own local machine then try again. or if you are using some shared hosting then you cannot go for back up as its no provided by those.. –  raman Jul 30 '12 at 11:38
You haven't set the "backup to" at the bottom - where do you expect the backup to go? –  Bridge Jul 30 '12 at 11:40

If you want to take backup, another way is that from location
'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Data'
you can copy your data base files i.e .mdt and .ldf files
`enter code here`while taking backup make sure that all your sql resources are closed

it works..thank you very much.. –  rockenpeace Jul 30 '12 at 11:41

Are you sure you have selected the right media to backup on? I can see Tape is selected. This means that there is no Tape to backup on. Try to select Disk everything will work out.
