What type of server you are using i mean to say hosting server.. if its your own local machine then try again. or if you are using some shared hosting then you cannot go for back up as its no provided by those.. –  raman Jul 30 '12 at 11:38

You haven't set the "backup to" at the bottom - where do you expect the backup to go? –  Bridge Jul 30 '12 at 11:40

Are you sure you have selected the right media to backup on? I can see Tape is selected. This means that there is no Tape to backup on. Try to select Disk everything will work out.

Click Add , and put a filename.bak, then retry the backup process.

This question should not be locked, i had the exact same problem - having tried for the firs ttime ever to back up a database, I didn't know that I would get this error rather than "please add a file". –  gburton 19 hours ago
