I having problem to find a Meta data tool that should be used for data warehouse or data mart in order to make documentation.

What sort of documentation are you looking for and what platform(s) does it need to work with? – Leigh Riffel Aug 29 '12 at 12:16
The documentation is about data about the source and data warehouse's database. The plattform can be unix or windows. Is it answer to your questions? – Legato Aug 29 '12 at 18:53
This could be anything from the names of the databases that could be recorded by hand on a napkin all the way to a tool that can run on on unix or windows and can gather ddl for all objects on N different databases running on Y different operating systems. The more specific your requirements are the better answer you will get. Right now we don't know if you need a skateboard or an aircraft carrier. – Leigh Riffel Aug 29 '12 at 19:04

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

At our company, we use IBM's InfoSphere Data Architect and we save off our models and metadata to Subversion. IBM IDA is not a free tool though if you are looking for a free tool.
