I have a view and some UIs displaying this view. The UIs should check for updates of that view periodically. I want Oracle database to trigger this event. Can I use Oracle scheduler for this? And How?

There isn't enough information to answer this question. What technology is the UI based on? Web/Windows/etc? How do you expect a database to push info? –  FreshPhilOfSO Sep 30 '12 at 19:54

It is web UI. UI info has to be updated periodically. Some of the columns of the view are the return values of pl/sql functions using sysdate. I want that view to be refreshed periodically by the database. I dont know which functionality of Oracle I should use. I thought it may be scheduler or materialized view but I am quite inexperienced at database systems so cant determine the optimal solution. –  antipodest Sep 30 '12 at 22:10

why should your UI not query periodically the view? –  miracle173 Oct 29 '12 at 23:59

perhaps it makes sense to search for change notification. But I think you will find rather advanced technics that needs a lot of knowledge to implement. –  miracle173 Oct 30 '12 at 0:28
