I understand this might not be the best forum, but I could sure use some help right about now. If not, please suggest a forum where I can.

I was trying to backup a table, by using the export wizard. I accidentally seleected the same table as source and destination. Add insult to injury, I chose the drop destination table before inserting option. Needless to say, I now have an empty table.

I am sure there are (must?) be some backups, but the support team is not available to help right now. Is there anything I can do to recover the said table?

I think that this question is similar to stackoverflow.com/questions/3540729/…. IMO->Digging through the log records to find stuff has always given me the willies. What if the tool gets it wrong, or what if the log records have already been backed up or truncated and are therefore gone? I would prefer to use whatever backups are available. – darin strait Oct 27 '12 at 20:52

I had backups available. So, thankfully I have been able to restore the table. Also, we have 24/7 support, but I was not aware of that. I used an answer in the question that @darinstrait linked to, to get the particular table restored. – theTuxRacer Oct 29 '12 at 3:35
I think this is on-topic and not too localized–if you are willing to copy/paraphrase the SO answer into an answer here and self accept that would be the best solution. Of course it would be good to attribute and link back to the answer on SO. – Jack Douglas♦ Oct 29 '12 at 7:01

As it turns out, we did have backups. I restored the backup on another server, and just copied the required table to the production database. Of course, I did it during such a time, where I was sure that no new records would have been saved. Just to be sure, I stopped the web application before doing this.

The idea came from the answer in the question that was linked by Darin Strait in the comments.
