Database Administrators Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for database professionals who wish to improve their database skills and learn from others in the community. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a spoon job that I want to run from two different servers. One is UNIX and one is Windows. The database is on the Windows server for each configuration. Each configuration pulls data from files that are stored on the same server.

For example:

Windows server gets data files from: C:\dataFiles
runs ETL on the following server: windowsServer

UNIX server gets the files from: /opt/someApp/dataFiles
runs ETL on the following server: windowsServer

I want to set a kettle.properties property for the data files location so that it is adaptable on either system it's running on. For instance, how can I reference a system variable called MY_APP_DATA_LOCATION in kettle.properties? Currently I have different kettle.properties data location variables for each environment.

Thanks.
