I have been using database replication (Master-Master) in two of my server's running Mysql over Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server edition.

I had to reset the database root user password of one of the server say Server A. After resetting of root password successfully, the safe mode of mysql was still running so at a point in time on one server there were two processes of mysql were running.

Due to this the CPU usage of server went exceptionally high and the database replication failed. I believe it is due to the two instances of mysql which were running. It gave the error:

Last_IO_Errno: 1236
Last_IO_Error: Got fatal error 1236 from master when reading data from binary log: 'Could not find first log file name in binary log index file'

I tried to restore the database but due to two instances of mysql running the replication dropped again. So is this really due to this that the replication failed? How? Thanks.
