When I use the Import Export Wizard on my workstation to move data from ServerA to ServerB does the data flow over the network directly from ServerA to ServerB? Or does it go from ServerA to my client, then to ServerB?

ServerA to ServerB. You connect to ServerA using SSMS not your local client PC. – DenisT Feb 21 '14 at 19:45
The clarification I meant was that SSMS was running on my local PC, not ServerA. I just wanted to make sure my local client was not in the middle of the data transfer. – Andy Feb 21 '14 at 20:32
Your local PC just a client and is not in the middle. Everything is done on the server side. – DenisT Feb 21 '14 at 20:44
Thanks for the information DenisT. – Andy Feb 21 '14 at 22:05
