- I want to use MySQL for my Java application as a database engine.
- I have two different applications that must be run on two separate computer networks.
- The first program saves the data in the database. And some users on the first network need to change or use the data. So I can't use an embedded solution like Derby embedded.
- The database should be updated on the second network weekly so the second application on the second network will be able to use data.
This should be done by a non-expert user so I want to develop an application which runs this backup-update. Should I copy the db directory as it has been explained here or there can be a better solution which will remain compatible also with the future versions of MySQL?
