I have the following tables in my database:

enter image description here

Above these tables (not pictured) is a Users table where the SendingUserId and ReceivingUserId are keyed onto (they are foreign keys).

Are these tables in a normalized form? I feel as if I'm missing something.. maybe the SendingUserId and ReceivingUserId should be a composite key in the UsersWithMessages table?

What purpose does UsersWithMessages serve? Seems to me like that is unnecessary. – Max Vernon Jun 7 '14 at 2:45
Yes, that's what it's starting to look like. If every message has only one sender and one receiver (user-to-user), I could just delete it no? – user3308043 Jun 7 '14 at 2:58
If that is the case then UsersWithMessages is not necessary. – Mikael Eriksson Jun 7 '14 at 4:33
