I don't like to store the value as date because I don't want additional information such as the time and GMT information. I just need the yyyymmdd format and unless I can set the date to yyyymmdd format as a data type for my column.

Also, I can conclude from your answer that the 1st option will be much more recommended - convert(varchar(8), getdate(), 112)

Wow, your update 2 was instead short and sweet. Looks like it will be difficult for other people to provide a even shorter one as a answer.

Oh I see, you are right. It seems that I have used a varchar(10) even though I used convert(varchar, getdate(), 112). However and anyway, I do agree with your answer and will mark it correct next week if there are no better answers.

I will mark your answer correct next week if I could not find a better answer that can simplified the sql statement.

Is it possible to use a single sql statement?

I used the Convert function for my default value when I use the Create Table sql statement, which I can see the 2 trailing spaces.

Strange, when you perform Join, I have many missing data not appearing at all, which I experience previously. How do I get all the data back even though it might have NULL values inside it (inside all the columns except the name in the table StaffName)?
