comment Options to migrate large database from Sybase ASE to SQL Server with minimum downtime
Replication Server transactional replication would likely be a good fit for your needs. Once replication is initiated, the servers could be kept nearly identical until your cutover date.

comment How do I control order/arrangement of certain columns in a resultset?
If you aren't using alpha-numeric sorting, then you likely have to create your own ordering mechanism though a new column.

comment Search all columns in list of tables for particular string
@kin Thanks for the correction, I was producing this from memory. As for the OPs intention, I was not the only person to see ambiguity in the question, so I will continue to defer to the OP to clarify when he sees fit.

comment How can I re-index a column using SQL Server Compact Edition?
Sybase ASE is also missing the sequence function, so we approximate it using identity - check my answer here for a possible work around: stackoverflow.com/questions/24616967/sybase-sequence/…

comment Is there a way to call sp_spaceused in a WHILE loop?
You can just grab the pertinent parts of sp_spaceused, and include the logic in your batch job.

comment Can I log which stored procedure issued a delete statement?
In our implementation we keep track of this with a column that shows the source of the insert/change/delete. If you can add a column to your base table, you could alter the trigger to put the name of the procedure into that new column.

comment how to change sybase sql default port
You should probably include more details in your question, such as DB product (Saying it's a Sybase database does not narrow down options), OS, etc...But since you are talking about running SAP..I'll assume you mean Sybase ASE.
