Database developer for SQL-Server and ORACLE. Doing a lot with PowerShell.

I'm German and it is now only 4 years that I started bloging (in english) and now i'm contributing to several OpenSource Projects. Codeplex SQLPSX is the most important of them. There I'm porting SQLIse to Oracle and now to MySQL too.

If your are interested in databases and PowerShell (or other ways to use ADO.NET) please visit: http://sqlpsx.codeplex.com/

comment Did anybody use sqlcmd mode in practice?
I'm using sqlcmd as replacement for osql myself, but I'm not using the new features. I want to know if those where used.

comment How does the Oracle DUAL table work?
We once even succeeded in creating our own DUAL table shading the oracles DUAL table and were able to insert and fetch more than one row from it.

comment What is the significance of a semicolon at the end of SQL*Plus commands?
+1 To make things more confusing, you can use / on the following line instead of the ; in some cases.

comment Performance implications of MySQL VARCHAR sizes
+1 this question applies similar to all DBMS. My observation many varchar sizes tend to grow.
