Database developer for SQL-Server and ORACLE. Doing a lot with PowerShell.

I'm German and it is now only 4 years that I started bloging (in english) and now i'm contributing to several OpenSource Projects. Codeplex SQLPSX is the most important of them. There I'm porting SQLIse to Oracle and now to MySQL too.

If your are interested in databases and PowerShell (or other ways to use ADO.NET) please visit: http://sqlpsx.codeplex.com/

yes after killing that session, I could drop the database. What about turning your comment into an answer?

comment Downsides to using SQL 2012 Upgrade as opposed to a fresh install?
Thanks for the hint to upgrade the databases. At this point in time it is easy to use the upgrade advisor to check them for incompatible items. You better do the same when you attach your databases to a fresh installed server.

comment Should I use SQL JOIN or IN Clause?
Might depend on DBMS. I know for sure that SQL-Server is optimizing Select *. (cf. Itzik Ben-Gan in Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 T-SQL Fundamentals)

@ErikE you can't drop the database you are connected to. Usually you connect to master and drop the other database.

comment Has somebody got a function that will extend hashbytes to strings of arbitrary length?
Your solution requires a cast like, Select dbo.GetMyLongHash(cast(definition as varbinary(max))) from sys.sql_modules where object_id = object_id('<myproc>'), but that is a little inconvenience for keeping it more general. Yes and your version regards differences in trailing blanks.

@Oleg Because you get the following error Msg 8152, Level 16, State 10, Line 1 String or binary data would be truncated.

Technically there are no composed primary keys. All Tables have surrogate primary keys -- NOT NULL IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY
