I was introduced to development in middle school when a friend of mine got me into HTML. I took some programming courses in college, but wasn't satisfied with how slow and repetitive the curricula were, so I bought some advanced programming books and taught myself. I've been working in IT for my father for the last 4 years or so, and have done development in VB.NET, C#.NET, Silverlight, Java, PL/SQL, Android, and most recently Groovy and Grails. I consider myself an Oracle and .NET expert (though perhaps expert is a strong word), but the circumstances at my job are forcing me in the Java/Groovy/Grails direction. Now that I'm in it I'm enjoying it very much. I hope to get into PostgreSQL, cloud, and iOS development in the near future.
I also have extensive experience working with Windows Server and most of the many built-in features of it including Active Directory and Group Policy, Remote Desktop Services, and Hyper-V. More recently I've gotten into Linux of the Oracle/RHEL and SUSE varieties, but I still have a lot to learn about the common command-line tools in it.
I could go on, but I will spare you. Needless to say, I love technology in all forms.

Deleting folders after Oracle upgrade When you say "upgraded" do you mean you performed an in-place upgrade, or you installed 11g and migrated the data? |

How to Recover My Oracle 9i Database From Just The Datafiles I've actually done the upgrade for this particular system a dozen or more times already. I was in a hurry and unfocused this time and boned myself pretty hard. Thanks for the help, guys. If you could provide me an example of oradim in a full-blown answer, that would be great. |

How to Recover My Oracle 9i Database From Just The Datafiles I deleted the 11g database before I posted this question, so the alert.log file for it is gone. I also don't see a log file for the 11g dbca, which I find odd. I was looking in <ORACLE_HOME>\assistants\dbca\logs folder which was empty. However, I have pastebinned the alert.log for the 9i instance which doesn't work here. |

How to Recover My Oracle 9i Database From Just The Datafiles I can say for certain that the 11g database creation did NOT overwrite the SYSTEM tablespace datafile because the 11g database exists under C:\app\administrator\... and the 9i database exists under C:\orant\<SID>. The thing I know that did get overwritten was the Windows Service which takes the form OracleService<SID>. I'll go get those logs... |

Oracle Forms 6i on Windows 7 Sorry, I don't know. For some reason, info on anything to do with Forms and Reports 6i is extremely hard to come by even from a historical perspective. It is the patchset to make it compatible with Windows XP, so it was probably released sometime in '02 or '03. |
