I hold my MCITP in Database Development. Currently, I am working on learning as much about replication as possible... specifically, troubleshooting it when things go wrong. I work for a software firm that provides a solution for city and county health inspection agencies and I fill a role that is a hybrid of development and client services.

I'm assuming that I need to set it to UTF8 then... would this have any implications to other areas of the database?

Marian, Thank you... this is what I was expecting. As far as CREATING a new backup, that won't be necessary... I have 2 backups that are going to be our bases. I appreciate your input and I'm going to call this solved. I will post another comment with a link to the script.

@Zane Also, I found a method online that seems to work well, but I have only tested it with a sample, 3mb database... It restores from a .bak... I am wondering how it will perform with a 1.5gb database... off to testing! :D

@Zane Yes, we have 2 different .bak files that they will choose from. We are going to be setting up a box with SQL Server 2008 and Server 2012. The 2 backups they will be using will not be changing, they will only be changing the DB's they create with the script.
