if you can get another backup i suggest shrinking the log file before getting a new backup

Cant use AlwaysOn because we are using SQL Server Standard edition.... lokks like i'm going to have to use mirroring

yes the servers are in different geographic locations and should anything fail we would have to be able to restore data to the latest point before the failure took place. If there is a possibilty of data loss with asynchronous mirroring then i won't be able to take that risk.... i will look into the AlwaysOn option :)

Then you are going to have to create separate maintenance plans for each database and direct the backups to the individual folders
