Should my Postgres backup server be as beefy (IO, processor, RAM) as my master? That makes sense, and I'm ultra paranoid about data loss. |

Should my Postgres backup server be as beefy (IO, processor, RAM) as my master? @dezso - thanks. I do intend to fail over to this additional server, but to do so manually (so I'll be able to upgrade the server and move the data into an SSD volume in about 30 min). It's not perfect, but it's I worry about all the things that can go wrong with fully automated failover. Down the road I'll automate the process when I have the resources and knowledge to do so comfortably, and when I have the mullah to run identical master/slave servers (could get expensive as I grow). |

Struggling with pgBouncer @Peterpete - omg, thanks. Finding this was such a help - been working on this for 3 hours :/ Documentation for pgbouncer is crap. I wish that Postgres shipped with a connection pooler. |

Why does `pg_lsclusters` not list my Postgres cluster? @CraigRinger - thanks. If you put that into an answer (I made one, but it's not terrific), I'll accept yours and remove mine. |

Why does `pg_lsclusters` not list my Postgres cluster? Wow, indeed that is the case - and what an awesome tool with such a simple syntax as pg_ctlcluster 9.2 mycluster start |

Why does `pg_lsclusters` not list my Postgres cluster? @CraigRinger - I used initdb -D /the/dir/ - I think I just realized that I should have used pg_createcluster -d /the/dir/ shouldn't I have? Are they both the same, minus whatever extra meta data that Postgres stores about the cluster? (I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.2) |
