comment Optimize view (and underlying table) for averaging timestamps into hours
@ErwinBrandstetter 1. I brain farted the column name because that's what the data source called it. I can/will change that. 2. I subtract 5 minutes because I the average from x:05 to x+1:00 so I subtract 5 minutes so that when I truncate off the minutes all those times become the same value.

comment Getting “Attempt to fetch logical page in database” error when running query
@AaronBertrand it was a clustered index. Not all queries fail like if I just do select top 5 * from 'table' that will work. I haven't looked at DBCC PAGE. I googled that and it looks like I need a filenum and pagenum but I don't know which ones to look at. I did run dbcc page(7, 1, 8687634, 3) and got Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0 A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.

@Kin the msg is 605, level 21, state 3, line 1. I have SP1 right now but I'm downloading SP2.

comment sql server 2008 r2 DBCC checktable error
@Edward Dortland I don't think the merge caused the corruption but I think some how the index got corrupted. The merge in the log just let me know what table to look at for the problem. The database is only read by users and written to by automated processes which I stopped for the check so, for me, I think I'm ok without single user check

I think this did the trick. I reran DBCC CHECKTABLE after deleting the index and it reported no error.
