Coding an accounting database from scratch? You're right that I'd rather spend time helping people than staring at a spreadsheet. The price of off-the-shelf software is an impediment: general accounting apps aren't structured right, and the price of medical accounting or practice management apps is laughably ridiculous. A cloud service is not preferable--I need it to be local. This is a low-budget endeavor. Also, I don't intend to re-invent accounting, just have a way to track visits, checks, reconciliation, multiple payers per patient, and basic statistics that I'm already doing in Calc. Building a front-end would make it easier. |
