comment What are the disadvantages if indexes are added on all columns?
"Better solution" is relative. If he is willing to degrade inserts and updates and have a longer query pre-processing time, sure, go ahead and add indexes on all columns.

comment What does it mean to backup a database
To be totally complete however, your backup also need meta data like users, access permissions, server configuration. Backing up the data is good but wouldn't be complete without your server configuration to restore a server rapidly.

comment PostGres- How to loop in Table to update every record in Table
In SQL, that's normally called a JOIN. Look up JOIN in a basic SQL book or web site training like w3school or something.

comment PostgreSQL Transaction Committing for hours
@CraigRinger - I think you're right. The strange thing is that at 2AM I got these alerts in the log file and since then, all day didn't get more messages in logs - however, the database connections are still hung as if PostgreSQL did not recover from those faults. Going to do an update of OS and such tonight (running 4 years old kernel).

comment Can Anyone please review my database after I did the Normalization ?.Any suggestion is appreciated
Are staff always users? Then why having a staff_id column?, you don't have a student_id column so why a staff_id? Personally, I wouldn't do multi-columns PK. A constraint if you want but not as as PK.

comment PostgreSQL does not use all available IOPS on a single operation
I would recommend the book PostgreSQL High Performance as to answer that question would require a book. There are many variables in play.

comment How to copy PostgresSQL database from remote server to LOCAL PC WITHOUT PG_DUMP(ALL)?
You're trying to backup the whole database but looks like your "user1" user does not have access to all schema so you'll have to specify which schema you want. You can use other tools if you just want to move the data from one db to another like Pentaho Kettle or DataPumper which comes with SQL Workbench. There are many others. But pg_dump would work provided you give it the right commands.
