comment How should I design a relationship table for friendship?
hi @rolandomysqldba, I am big fan of your answers. its really helpful to me (in this case 1st example). Now here is one caveat for me, I want unique relationship. (eg. If user A friends with B then, B friend with A is not acceptable.) should I do with trigger? and what about performance? because I have very huge table (about 1 million records), and If I searching for User A's friends (A is stored in both (friend_of, friend_to) fields, and mysql using only one index, then It is performing very slow. Thats way I must have to store duplicate entries in my table (eg.A->B,B->A). Any better option?

comment Mysql replication with c
hello @tero-kilkanen all points you suggested, is checked and ok as per my knowledge. but still I want to replicate my database and store all the data on SLAVE and only 2 months data (some of tables) on MASTER (eg PRODUCTION Database). Is is possible? If yes, How? and another question about real-time or latency. imagine my MASTER server is located in USA and my SLAVE at Singapore, when records get inserted in MASTER, at how many time it will take insert it on SLAVE (forgot about network latency)

I sorry for typo. It is not billion, it's a million. :) and not just for backup. I want solution for real-time synchronization, so I have another option in case of main server crashed.

thanks @dgig, I have changed ft_min_word_length and rebuilt index again. but when I restart mysqld service and then run query first time it is taking to much time (may be worm up time), but still this is taking too much time. do you any guess

comment MySQL Community Edition Capacity
@ypercube, I mean to say capability to handle workload. Currently, some of my queries includes multiple tables getting very slow (this tables are well normalized and properly indexed as per EXPLAIN)

comment MySQL query with order by decreased performance
@Mihai, there is already one composed index (userid, userstatus, fullname ), but it doesn't used in plan. it is using primary key, may be because I have write <> on that field
