comment Partitioning a table state
Since the value set of the state column is defined ahead I was hoping to tell it "AL","AK","AZ","OTHER" but fear was that it is really not possible with SQL Server. The idea is to provide different data buckets so I can speed up my imports, but then likely it is better to make different tables i guess. Thanks!

@Kin had a look at the guide but it seems outdated, "The SQL Server destination is the fastest way to bulk load data from an Integration Services data flow to SQL Server. This destination supports all the bulk load options of SQL Server – except ROWS_PER_BATCH." and in SSIS 2012 they recommend the OLE DB destination for better performance.

comment Can SQL Agent job notifications be sent to one operator for success and another for failure?
SQL Agent seems to be the black sheep in the family I hope one day they will fully integrate it with the availability group feature.

Well my recent experience with SSDT and linked servers would second the SSIS approach. Linked servers also have some limitations that can be a pain.

comment How to select the mail profile in a sql agent job
I'm asking how to actually do it in a SQL Agent job, I can't find a way to specify per job which mail profile should be used. Since in these SQL Agent jobs you only have the Notifications dialog where you can specify the recipient and not the sender (which would be the profile's purpose I guess).

I tried that, however it didn't help. I did narrow down the problem a bit more. I execute the package within a powershell script and there it is within a try catch block. It seems that even though the flag is set sqlpackage.exe creates an exception (I would expect otherwise)
