Should I create a separate user table for different web products within the same platform? I never worked with MySQL Cluster, but AFAIK, database sharding is horizontal partitioning (by rows), not vertical (by columns). Therefore, you would still need same database schema on each node. It makes no sense to design database differently to "support sharding". |

Should I create a separate user table for different web products within the same platform? 1) I don't see why would this be a problem? With first solution you still need someone to coordinate changes between these tables. 2) Are these tables in the same database? Which RDBMS are you using? But I still don't see the problem with this either. 3) You can have a flag in users table which tells you is that a "normal" user or a recruiter, if that's easier for you. |

SQL services wont start due to incorrect drive letter after windows restore No, it's not. SQL Server install is more than just copying files to E:\Program Files (or whatever path). |

SQL Server - Must be first statement in query batch - what and why? Sorry, can't help you with that. These rules are probably something what is a causality of the way the system works, rather than something which is made intentionally. Creating tables has to be supported because you must be able to create temporary tables and manipulate them in a single batch. So, that feature is something you have to "plan for". Adding columns to existing tables in a batch is probably something they chose to skip. But this is just my guess. :) |

SQL update satement taking a very long time / high disk usage for hours You can post DDL for your tables (including all indexes, constraints, etc.). Maybe there is something slowing down your performance and you are missing that. |
