SSAS Dimensions Hierarchy causes deployment errors @Kenneth I agree, "As I said, this doesn't SOLVE the issue...", I'd love to hear your thoughts on identifing the cause and what the solution might be. |

SSAS Dimensions Hierarchy causes deployment errors @gbn there's a proposed edit? I don't see one either on my answer, the original question or the comments. Just curious to what you are referring. |

Index vs. partition Instead of thinking of indexing and partitioning as either-or solutions for performance improvement, you should be thinking of both as tools that can be used separately or in conjunction to achieve performance improvements in your database. |

Is polling the only way for updating app's data from a database? well said. After reading your DBMS_ALERT answer, I learned another way of doing this - more tools for the toolbox! +1 |

SSAS Dimensions Hierarchy causes deployment errors @Lumpy - glad to hear it, just remember to watch those logs to make sure you aren't allowing meaningful errors to fall through the cracks. |

Multiple Oracle Instances — is this a good practice? Thanks much @BillThor |

Why can't I read Oracles CLOB columns via SQL-SERVER 2008 linked server? I really do not understand why Microsoft isn't able to fix this issue? For the same reason Microsoft stopped supporting the dotnet framework Oracle client library - "other people do it better", if I ruthlessly paraphrase their responses in the past. No love lost between those two, I tell you. |

Multiple Oracle Instances — is this a good practice? Can you provide examples where its necessary to run multiple instances? |

What database front end do you use? +1 because its the only response, so far, that supports multiple RDBMS's. That being said, I don't like it compared with other commercial solutions like PL/SQL Developer and TOAD (which, admitedly, only work with Oracle). |
