I am, apparently, an "Information Analyst"; which basically means I do a lot of SQL programming in Oracle, for an academic institution. Trying to bring order to chaos!... It keeps me off the streets.
Otherwise, I am a linguist (specialising in syntax and formal semantics) and a (pure) mathematician -- I have masters in both -- with a practical/hobbyist background in software development. So informatics is kind of my thing; but science, in general, actually... I also paint and draw and sculpt; speak Italian (badly) and Norwegian (very badly), amongst others in the works; and I cycle, a lot.

Oracle Packages, Procedures and Functions Not Respecting Roles +1 for the references, but this doesn't really explain to me the motivation behind this decision. The best I could quickly glean is that roles are just for user maintenance, but that seems an arbitrary constraint. What security concern does disabling roles within PL/SQL solve? |

Oracle User Profile for REST API @Phil Good point -- I'm not an expert and that escaped me! I guess, in that case, latency is a function of the schema. (This isn't something I have control over, as it's third party.) However, I was just wondering if there were any tweaks that could be done to a user profile that are conducive to, particularly, a lot of concurrent connections, such that other users aren't overly affected? |
