if I open this up in plain old windows notepad its jibberish, if I open it up in notepad++ I see the correct data. Could it be because some of the fields are NULL?

Im sorry to open this up again but I came back to this project and this still gives me jibberish. Please note this was not scheduled to run its manually run and so I havent had a chance to run it until today. Even If I recreate the header.txt file and run the code it gives me jibberish. If i comment out last two xp_cmdshell calls I see the text file (although it is .txttmp) and the data is there except the header isnt...But if I uncomment and run it completly it gives me jibberish

Side question, couldnt you have wrapped this inside of a transaction and rollback if what happened didn't meet your needs?

Instead of linking to your blog, can you at least post the relevant snippets here. Blogs tend to disappear and reappear during ones lifetime.

No simply varchar fields. Again this exports fine if I go back to what I have.

It runs but I get strange gibberish in the file (the filename file). Most is unreadable it appears chinese characters.

So AddHeaderToExportFile.cmd can you clearly mark that one, which one of your code snippets become that? (Assuming first)?

Ya maybe you can show how to call this because I'm a bit confused with this %Temp%\TempHeader.txt. The issue is I need the filename to match what I had posted previously. If you can show how that is done that may help me.

Hmm...But what about my @FileName etc. Is it possible you can incorporate what I already have into this? Or should I not bother with that?

This requires some sort of external process or job or batch to do this, I want to avoid that.
