I'll see if I can dig up more information about it and improve the question. What we're trying to figure out is if we should ask for our own server or not. It's the "hardware is cheap" vs "we want ALL in vmware" argument going on...

I don't really know how many disks but I know it's a raid 5. Unfortunately most of it is a black box to me. The client is a ssd no raid so it might not be a fair comparison?

I use SSMS only. SSMS is fully capable of doing what needs to be done. Our server stuff doesn't need to know what's there...
