Sysadmin with strong focus on scripting. Powershell is the weapon of my choice. When it doesn't just cut it, I will add TSQL, C#, P/Invoke and VBScript.

Where's the execution plan? Table definitions and indexes would be useful too.

What additional workloads (both Sql Server and any other service, like file shares, IIS etc) the server is doing? What kind of storage the server has? Are the execution plans the same?

comment Simple method to setup SQL Server for development access
@MikeFal, Are you certain? Without Run as Admin, UAC strips local admin membership for user's security token. If the Sql Server has been set up so that only local admins belong into sysadmin role (typical setting on a next-next-next install often found on dev boxes) and there are no additional privileges being granted, the permissions need to be fixed. In order to do that, SSMS must be launched first with a priviledged mode and then used to assign additional permissions to the actual user account.

What index is that? Why was it created in the first place? How do you know it is decreasing performance?

Sql Server 2000 SP2 was released in 2003. How about an upgrade or even an update? You are missing a lot fixes.

Have you got a backup of the data prior the change?

So you didn't ask the framework team how to change query type?

comment How to restrict SQL server profiler to show my symmetric key password while executing query from C# code?
@EdwardDortland The question boils down to trust. A sysadmin has lots of ways to steal secrets ranging from physical access to protocol analysis. Valuable and sensitive data into cloud belongs not.

@vijay Read the framework's docs or ask your boss. There are ways to bypass the internal framework, but surely you need to discuss with project management about such an approach.

@vijay Do you understand that definitions for fetchQuery and DBAccess would be quite important in this context?

@vijay You need to show the C# part of your code too. Likely it is the one that sends SQL statements to sp_executesql.
