comment Oracle: REGEXP functions hang with “DIRECT PATH READ”
Judging from "Seesion even KILLED not went away" I would say that it was in fact in RUNNING state, and not in WAITING state. If the session is RUNNING, the wait event is irrelevant as it simply shows the past (historical) wait event.

Please provide the output of crs_stat -t. The command can be run as root and usually resides in CRS_HOME/bin or GI_HOME/bin.

comment Oracle 11g database structural change doesn't autobackup controlfile/spfile
@Ivan Both NBU and TSM work when executed from RMAN script. In fact, you cannot execute them in any other way, which kind-of sucks.

comment Recover oracle 10g database from old data files
If you, at some point in the past, have had copied all the relevant files while the database was shutdown, it surely wouldn't complain about resetlogs. Since it does complain, either you didn't restore all the relevant files, or the files are corrupted. My first guess is that the files were copied while modified, hence they are inconsistent, hence you have no backup to restore.

comment How can I execute a PL/SQL procedure for Oracle via JDBC?
EXEC (EXECUTE) is a SQL*Plus native command (just like SHUTDOWN, HELP, SET, etc.), and not a part of SQL itself.
