comment Production (20GB+) Database running slowly and timing out
@LordRelix - I'd also recommend Mr. Bertrands memory by db and object queries mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2393/… If the sql server is consuming the max server memory, you could reduce the number of trips to disk (and some of the IO latch) by adjusting the max server memory setting or adding memory. Truthfully, you need a good DBA to review the database, as high IO can be from table scans (missing indexes), non-sargable predicates (bad sql), bad plans (missing indexes, stats out of date), insufficient IOPS, etc.

If you start a profiler trace on the tabular instance and then and then try to connect via excel, is the NTUsername field your actual NTUsername or Anonymous Logon?

"a function on a WHERE predicate" means indexes won't be used". This is not always true. Granted, it's true for this case but sometimes you can get a seek. See Rob Farley's article: msmvps.com/blogs/robfarley/archive/2010/01/22/…

comment How do I add minutes to a time data type?
+1 @Aaron Alternatively you can convert StartTime and TimeToAdd to datetime and then add. Converting TimeToAdd will be very messy when the minutes are > 59. DATEADD is the best solution.

So you're suggesting a RBAR update? Using OLE DB command for UPDATE = RBAR

Good deal. While the Checkpoint will get the table loaded, getting a minimally logged bulk insert should be a significant performance boost. The TABLOCK should get it done.

I believe I see the issue. Not sure how I looked this over. The bulk insert isn't using the tablock option. msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190422.aspx TABLOCK is the second bullet of the pre-requisites.

Did you split the procedures up? Which one is popping the log? The bulk insert or the merge?
