I am Cabinet Maker turned programmer - Odd but true :)

I have a passion for all things coding including C#, PHP, CSS, JavaScript (JQuery is great!).

I started an admin tool for Call of Duty - Black Ops in Feburuary 2011 which allows server admins to manage their server without being on-line. It handles things like map rotations, language filters, weapon restrictions, user permissions etc all manageable from a web interface. I have learnt a lot on this project and enjoy working on it. comment Deadlock error isn't returning the deadlock SQL
@MartinSmith - Many thanks, I will take a look. I managed to sort the deadlock by rewriting my database connection code to use native .NET functionality (I wasn't using connection pooling properly). I will mark this as the answer as this does answer the original question.

@MartinSmith Can you create an answer for your concatenation comment please. This turned out to be the issue.

The only thing I can see that I am doing is replacing all " with '' as this is user entered content (can't remember why I did that now). I did manage to get the content to enter correctly by removing all single quotes in the content so I think something odd is going on with my data rather than the database.

Nothing special, just this: update table set content = 'my long content' where id = 1. The content does have lots of HTML in but I can't see that causing issues.

I have just done: select DATALENGTH (content) from table and it comes back as 8000.

The data is truncated when I display it on my website and also when I use SSMS to select content from table.
