SQL Server - Ignoring object dependencies to copy a DB (despite some column referenced in a sproc no longer existing) I've found this to do wonders when someone starts screwing with DB schemas: amazon.com/Louisville-Slugger-MLB225YB-Baseball-29-Inch/dp/… Aim for the knees! |

SQL Server - Ignoring object dependencies to copy a DB (despite some column referenced in a sproc no longer existing) Ok, serious answer. You need to hire a consultant. Clearly you've got a massive project - something that no Q and A site in the world is going to fix. Recommend hiring someone really, really good. |

SQL Server - Ignoring object dependencies to copy a DB (despite some column referenced in a sproc no longer existing) Can you just create the missing columns on the other servers and leave them empty? |

Write to Error Log Agree with both of you. However, there's no client application to throw an exception back to, and the error tracking is handled by a different department, so my hands are tied... Thanks for the info. |

Why is the SELECT clause listed first? Crap, I should post that link as the answer. "Because they flipped a coin." |

Why is the SELECT clause listed first? Yeah, the first time I saw LINQ syntax, I was weirded out. Then I realized that putting FROM first makes more sense... allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_1/7.html |

Why are periodic restarts required to keep my instance performing well? How many SPIDs are active during the slowness? Run sp_who2 and give the row count please. |

Why are periodic restarts required to keep my instance performing well? Points for a thorough question, but have you considered that 16 GB of RAM just might not be enough for 1200 databases? |

Deadlock on Insert/Update That is what is occurring, but I'm not quite sure why. Both threads are operating on different rows, each using the ROWLOCK directive. |

Deadlock on Insert/Update @MarkStorey-Smith Apologies, but I cannot. The system is highly confidential, and has been reduced to a lame analogy for purposes of posting the question. |

Deadlock on Insert/Update In reply to @Jeff: 1- Testing starts with an empty table, and I see deadlocks almost instantly; 2- One row at a time; 3- The application keeps track of the player_id. If it was previously handled, update, otherwise insert. |
