My password hasn't expired. We've tried multiple Windows accounts and they all get the error. I even created a new local user on the box, gave it db access and it gets the error. The domain accounts with access all work as long as we're connecting to the db on HP00333198 from another machine.

Yes, it is definitely running. I can connect using SQL authentication, just not Windows authentication. Windows authentication works if I'm connecting FROM another machine.

comment Linked Server to Mirrored Database Fails
I think I'm out of luck using Windows Authentication because the mirrored servers are in a different untrusted domain from the server with the linked server. And, hardcoding the sql username and password is what I was trying to do and doesn't work (except on that one SQL Server Express instance in the same untrusted domain.

Thanks. I've also tried stopping the SQL Server service on Server1 and then trying the linked server. It just gives a single "Msg 11001, Level 16, State 1, Line 0 TCP Provider: No such host is known." error. It still doesn't attempt a connection to the FailoverPartner.

I'm not sure if this what you're asking, but if I run "nslookup Server1" or "nslookup Server2", it gives me their ip addresses. Since I can get Server2 to work if I make it the primary in the provider string, I don't think it's an issue with connectivity. I just seems like the linked server won't try the FailoverPartner.

Yes, just mirroring. After I've failed over to Server2, I can ping both Server1 and Server2 from Server3 (the one that has the linked server).

comment Searching for pairs of date/time values in a single row
@Sam, in the 1st code bock, if the start/stop days are the same, the 2nd condition and the 3rd condition combined will return ALL rows for the day. Say the start time was 3p (150000) and the stop time was 5p (170000), the 2nd condition would return everything from 3p to 11:59:59p (150000 thru 235959) and the 3rd condition would return everything from midnight (000000 to 170000). Since the 2nd and 3rd conditions are OR'd, you get everything. That's the basic difference between the two code blocks. The 1st one is OR'd and the 2nd one is AND'd.

@Killercam, could you use global temp tables (e.g. ##TmpTableColumnNames)?
