mmhh - no, WW_Pos is a table - not a view. I give you right, that it can't eliminate operators. But I ask me, why It needs on this case so much of time even there are no rows to update - concrete the nested join is not returning any rows. The operator should still be there (not eleminated) but why does it producing so much cost with no rows?

but i think, he does try to find rows with the nested loop. This is clear, that this takes some cost. But this nested loop doesn't return any rows. Why does it nevertheless update the clustered index (and why update the clustered index?)?
