comment Benefits of compressed MySQL tables on INSERT-only workload?
Well hopefully I don't just get opinions, I'm looking for facts of how MySQL will handle the compressed data. As I mentioned: does memory allocation change with that data format? Does it save IOPS when using that data format?

'my_print_defaults mysqld' does print the right values, but from the OP 'mysqld --help --verbose' prints the right values as well. It's when the server actually starts that it does NOT have the correct values.
