comment data guard / network failure: deadline before global crash?
Ok but for how long can the hdd sustain the redo logs load? I don't want to lose any data, so it means it will inevitably fill up and fill up... right? I don't want to use rman to delete the unarchived logs, I may need them.

comment data guard / network failure: deadline before global crash?
ok, so we are planning an outage on our standby site. I don't want to miss any archive log from prod. How can I make sure the outage on standby does not overflow the hdd space autonomy of my redo logs area on primary site?

@a1ex07 Ok, thanks for the advices. Out of pressure a coworker decided to rewrite the query differently so unfortunately I cannot test all this anymore. However, I will do it next time we have a similar problem.

comment DESCRIPTION_LIST in tnsnames.ora
Thank you for your reply. Yes, what you describe is indeed our scenario. I read about the startup trigger. I will keep it in mind in the future, but so far we found the description_list to be a good and less intrusive alternative. What do you think?
