Apr 23, 2012 at 21:08 | comment | added | user8369 | technically you may be correct that it could work reading in parallel however I know that, even in sequential plans spools can only be read from one at a time (i.e. if there are 5 occurrences of a spool being used in a plan they have to be done in one at a time and cannot be read in parallel). I'll be honest, whilst I know query plans quite well I'm not a massive expert on parallelism but I'm sure that spools are one of the operators that break parallelism.
