You might prefer something like this:

select *
from foobar
where (subject,term) in ( ('STAT','111')
                         ,('STAT','222')
                         ,('ENGLISH','555')
                         ,('COMM','444')
                         ,('COMM','333')
                         ,('STAT','222')
                         ,('STAT','666') 
                        );
