That's a reasonable hunch but the stack shows SqlTransaction.Commit . So this really is a native ADO.NET commit.

Jun 1, 2015 at 8:34 | comment | added | spaghettidba | @usr I have no direct experience with this error in EF, but I tend to think that the error message is EF specific and has to do with something it does under the covers, which is much more than a plain COMMIT on the database. I'm under the impression that a distributed transaction is used here and the DTC is unable to commit it for some reason. | |
