We are storing our everyday full backup in remote storage. Everything seems to be working fine, but every seven day interval the archived folder size is much more than the everyday archived backup folder.
- Database Server: MySQL Server 5.5.
- Database Size: 150 GB
- Archived dump folder size: Around 28 GB
- Backup Tool: mysqldump
- Backup Type: Full Backup
- Backup interval: 24 hours.
- We are running a .bat file for backup scheduling.
- There are no other batch files other than the 24 hour interval scheduled backup.
But every day 7 day interval, the backup folder size increased to 85 GB. What is wrong in our system? There are no other scheduled jobs for 7 day interval, nor are there any other jobs running parallel.
The script which we are using for backup is given below:
@echo off set curr_date="%date:~4,2%%date:~7,2%%date:~10,4%" mkdir "C:\MySQL_test\Backup_87\87_%curr_date%" mysqldump -R -B -h xxx.xx.x.xx --user=root -pnopwd %1 --quick --single-transaction --disable-keys --max_allowed_packet=1G --all-databases 2> C:\errorlog.txt > C:\MySQL_Test\Backup_87\87_%curr_date%\%1%2.sql
We have backup for last 3 months, every 7th day, the size of the backup folder is 85 GB all other days around 28 GB.
