I have successfully downloaded and installed this pre-built virtual machine with Oracle 11g. I am able to access the scott/tiger database and view table contents successfully.

I am currently trying to import a dump file I exported using the "expdp"

The expdp command worked perfectly and generated a dump file of size 114MB.

I secure copied the 114MB dump file to my pre-built virtual machine and attempted to run the command $ORACLE_HOME/bin/impdp

however no such command exists on this pre-built virtual machine. Does this mean I cannot import anything into the prebuilt virtual machine?

How do I import a simple dump file into the pre-built virtual machine?

  • I don't have that vm installed but sounds weird that expdp/impdp were not installed. What's your ORACLE_HOME?

  • inside the virtual machine $ORACLE_HOME is not defined. But if I navigate to /home/oracle there is a "bin" directory in there but all I see are linux style scripts ending with *.sh that start and stop the database or wls server. Perhaps I should try a different pre-built VM? Aug 18 '16 at 21:22
  • You are on the wrong directory. Look for something like /app/oracle/product/11.2.0.1/...
