Please can anyone help me in resolving the deadlock of which details and screenshots are given below?
Occasionally, two stored procedures are resulting in a deadlock. I was able to pin down the statements that caused the conflict. Only one table and one clustered and one non-clustered index is involved. For demonstration purposes, I renamed the table and indexes in a test environment. How can I avoid this deadlock?

  • What's the isolation level on your server? Can you move it to a more optimistic level? – Rich Benner Nov 30 '16 at 8:45

  • Have you checked the level of fragmentation on the clustered index? – pacreely Nov 30 '16 at 9:29
  • Isolation level: read committed, I believe the first picture ought to be the deadlock graph. Clustered index fragmentation level is 47% but shouldn't fragmentation in general be irrelevant in deadlocks? – Stackoverflowuser Nov 30 '16 at 10:57

query 1 appears to be updating the entire table, so maybe use TABLOCK on that one? – Mister Magoo Nov 30 '16 at 23:22
