I've added the MSOLEDBSQL provider to our SQL Server 2012 server to try and create a link server that can use MULITSUBNETFAILOVER=true. The problem is creating a query, even a simple select, fails with the error

"Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) has stopped this transaction."

I was able to get the query to finally run but have to explicitly use BEGIN DISTRIBUTED TRAN. Is there something I'm missing that would allow us to make this call without the BEGIN DISTRIBUTED TRAN?

I created a link server with the standard SQLNCLI provider to the same server and verified it works fine with just the select statement.
