I am a new DBA and am trying to do some documentation on the SQL estate that I am responsible for. Currently I have no documentation on anything so this is all from scratch. I am hoping to find out if there is a way I can map every SQL server login to the data that it has access to (database, table, etc). Is this possible?
As dbatools is a great one already mentioned in answer you might also want to check this ps script Documenting SQl server access , who can do what?
In addition I personally use and is my favorite is db permission sp here
There are many third party tools like idera which I can recall for now works charms.
If anyone is interested, the link below has the script that I found to be very useful. https://it.toolbox.com/question/script-to-list-all-sql-server-database-users-and-their-access-rights-into-a-flat-file-072811
