I will only need to allow a user to execute a specific sql agent job rather than be able to execute the other jobs that are there . Please advice how to accomplish this

  • What else would this user do in the DB? Nothing? If not, can you elaborate on what the job is? It may be easier to just grant permission to a single stored proc.like the one to backup a database. – scsimon Feb 8 at 21:05
  • This user will only run a copy only backup before he updates the application and I dont want to give him access to the other sql agent jobs – user9394033 Feb 8 at 21:07
  • Ola halengren scripts are used for that job – user9394033 Feb 8 at 21:08

If you make him the owner of that one job only and add him as a member of SQL Server Agent Fixed Database Roles SQLAgentUserRole should be able to execute the job. – SqlWorldWide Feb 9 at 2:56

If the job is to be executed manually, why use a job at all? – Dan Guzman Feb 9 at 12:19
