I was wondering what the best way to store linear data (x & y) in a database would be. The idea is to be able to store millions of these points, then retrieve them all at once in a fast and effecient manner.

tl;dr

  1. What's the best database software to use for storing coordinate data?
  2. What's the best schema/structure to use for storing coordinate data?

When I say best, I mean the fastest and most effecient method.
