I need to dump to a text file a large database, which comprises one laaaarge table. I'm ding it like this:

# mysqldump -p --single-transaction --quick --max-allowed-packet=2147483648 --tab=/mnt/export --fields-terminated-by=, --fields-optionally-enclosed-by=\" --fields-escaped-by=\\ geo

and then I got:

mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing 'SELECT INTO OUTFILE'

In the same time I see in the processlist that the file continues to grow, and the select into outfile query continues to run. I tried to set up various timeouts:

mysql> SET GLOBAL net_write_timeout = 31536000;
mysql>  SET GLOBAL net_read_timeout = 31536000;

but it was futile. What is preventing mysqldump from running ?
