I have a merge replication environment configured between a PUBL and 5 SUB servers that are geo distributed.
Most of the activity is at the publisher ( i know not the best direction- working on changing it to ensure all the activity is at the subscribers only) to or two of the 5 subscribers.

However, I am always noticing that uploads from the subscriber to publisher is always 10 times slower than the download rate from the publisher.

Why is this behaviour observed. Most queries that i have benchmarked have same run durations on both the servers. The Publisher does have higher memory compared to the subscriber but the difference in the upload and downloads speed is all observed at the subscriber end.

What are the possible reasons for this difference? What can i do to improve this?
